Unrevealed Historical Facts Behind Brahmastram | బ్రహ్మాస్త్రం గురించి మీకు తెలియని అద్భుత నిజాలు- With subtitles

Written by

In ancient Sanskrit writings, the Brahmastra was an astra created by Brahma. The Brahmashirsha astra and Brahmanda astra were similar weapons, created to be even more powerful.

As described in a number of Purana, it was considered as a very destructive weapon. It is said that when the Brahmastra was discharged, there was neither a counterattack nor a defense that could stop it, except by another Brahmastra, Brahmashirsha astra, or a Brahmanda astra. The Brahmastra never missed its mark and had to be used with very specific intent against an individual enemy or army, as the target would face complete annihilation. It was believed to be obtained by meditating upon the Lord Brahma, or from a Guru who knew the invocations. According to ancient Sanskrit writings, the Brahmastra is invoked by a key phrase or invocation that is bestowed upon the user when given this weapon. The user would have to display immense mental concentration. It could only be used once in a day.

Since Lord Brahma is considered the Creator in Sanatana Dharma, it is believed by Hindus that Brahmastra was created by Him for the purpose of upholding Dharma and Satya, to be used by anyone who wished to destroy an enemy who would also happen to be a part of his (Brahma's) creation.[citation needed] The target, when hit by Brahmastra, would be utterly destroyed.

The weapon was also believed to cause severe collateral damage. The land where the weapon was used became barren, and all life in and around that area ceased to exist. Both men and women became infertile. There was also a severe decrease in rainfall with the land developing cracks, as in a drought. The Brahmastra is mentioned in the epics and Vedas as a weapon of last resort and was never to be used in combat. This can be likened to an atomic bomb and Robert Oppenheimer is said to have believed nuclear weapons were used in the Mahabharata.

The Brahmastra, described in the Mahabharata, is a weapon which is said to be a single projectile charged with all the power of the universe.

This creation of Lord Brahma is cited capable of killing the devas themselves. It is believed that the Brahmashirsha astra is the evolution of the brahmastra, 4 times stronger than the brahmastra. In the epic Mahabharata, it is said that the weapon would manifest with the four heads of Lord Brahma as its tip. In the Mahabharata era, Parasurama, Bhishma, Drona, Karna, Ashwatthama, and Arjuna possessed the knowledge to invoke this weapon. This astra can be invoked by using sacred mantras onto any object, even to a blade of grass.

In the Mahabharata, it is explained that when this weapon was invoked there would be flames, thunder, and a thousand meteors would fall, accompanied with a great din and a trembling of the earth. When it strikes an area, complete destruction would manifest and it will not rain at that place for the next 12 years.[citation needed]It is believed that Ashwathama and Arjuna were about to use it on each other but they don't after Naradmuni and Vedavyas stop them from doing so.

Top 5 Most Mysterious Places Like Bermuda Triangle | బెర్ముడా ట్రయాంగిల్ లాంటి 5 ప్రమాదకర జలాలు | With Subtitles

5 Waters As Mysterious As The Bermuda Triangle...

Everyone has heard of the Bermuda Triangle and the mysteries that surround it. Theories about this area range from reasonable to just plain ridiculous, but whether you believe it’s the site of time warps, alien abductions, or just plain paranoia, it certainly abounds with strangeness. It’s not the only place you can find creepy things happening, however — here are 5 places on Earth with their fair share of mysteries:

The Brine Pool, located in the Gulf of Mexico, is an area underwater that has been nicknamed the ‘Jacuzzi of Death’ for its ability to kill any human or animal that goes in it. The Brine Pool has extremely high levels of salt in combination with other toxic chemicals that would result in burning to death upon entry.

Cape of Good Hope Also knows as the ‘Cape of Storms’. Notorious for its violently stormy conditions, huge waves of over five meters as well as wind speeds in excess of 30 knots make sailing around the rocky headland which sits between the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans a perilous task. Freak waves make sailing difficult, unpredictable cross currents even more so.

THE BLUE HOLE

If you're ever traveling along the coast of the Red Sea, be sure to check out the Blue Hole, one of the most beautiful diving sites in the world. It's also one of the deadliest so you know, wear a helmet or something.

The Blue Hole is a cave that's about one-hundred and thirty meters deep with an opening about six meters deep. Lovingly referred to as “diver's cemetery,” some view the hole as a sort of trap for divers because of how easy it is to miss. A tunnel connecting the cave to open water lies well beneath the recommended diving limit of forty meters. This is particularly dangerous because nitrogen narcosis, which creates a numbed feeling similar to alcohol consumption, regularly occurs at thirty meters and only increases as you go deeper.

But because Mother Nature is a dick, the archway connecting the Blue Hole to open waters isn't quite what it appears to be. Divers have reported that the odd angle of the opening makes it appear shorter than it actually is. People expecting a quick swim through find themselves swimming against a surprise current from the open water, and several divers have died trying to use the bottom of the tunnel as a reference because they didn't realize the bottom of the cave runs absurdly deep.

According to Egyptian authorities the site has only claimed forty lives since they've started keeping track, but locals insist that the number is being misreported intentionally.

10 Fascinating Facts About The Real Ninja History

One of the most famous icons of Japanese martial arts is the ninja. The shadow warriors of ancient Japan have gained an almost supernatural image in recent times. Ninja were one of the greatest covert ops forces in history, but exactly who were they? And does reality match the striking image popular culture has created?

The word “ninja” as we know it is actually a rather recent term. Understanding it, though, first requires look at the Chinese writing system, which the Japanese system is based on. The Chinese word for ninja is 忍者, which Japanese pronounces as “ninja.” A lot of people will mistakenly tell you that the word means “invisible man,” but that’s a misconception. While the second character does roughly mean “person,” the first means “endure,” “spy,” or “hide.” Thus, the word ninja means “a person who endures or spies.”

But, in spoken Japanese, the word for “one who endures or hides” is actually “shinobi mono.” Usually it was shortened to just “shinobi.” This was the common word people used to refer to the clandestine warriors, not ninja.

The word ninja came to be the exclusive term because it was easier to say for westerners. When westerners first arrived in Japan they were held in very high esteem because of their advanced technology. Often they were even more honored than Japanese themselves. “Shinobi” was difficult for westerners to say, so the word “ninja” was adopted by all as the standardized form.

The word for female ninjas, by the way, is kunoichi. It was almost unknown outside of Japan until very recently, thanks mostly to anime. It has a short, but interesting story. The word for woman in written Japanese is 女. It’s made with three individual letters or words: く, which is pronounced “ku.” ノ, which is pronounced “no.” And 一 is pronounced as “ichi.” Ku-no-ichi.

Alien Base Found in The Border Of India And China - భారత్, చైనా సరిహద్దులో బయటపడ్డ ఏలియన్ బేస్ - With Subtitle/CC

Kongka La is the low ridge pass in the Himalayas (the blue oval in the map). It is in the disputed India-China border area in Ladakh. In the map the red zone is the disputed area still under Chinese control in the Aksai Chin area. The Chinese held northeastern part is known as Aksai Chin and Indian South West is known as Ladakh. This was where Indian and Chinese army fought major war in 1962. The area is one of the least accessed area in the world and by agreement the two countries do not patrol that part of the border. According to many tourists, Buddhist monks and the local people of Ladakh, Indian Army and Chinese Military maintain the line of control. But there is something much more serious happening in this area.

According to the few locals people on the Indian and Chinese side, this is where the UFOs are seen coming out of the ground, According to many, the UFO underground bases are in this region and both the Indian and Chinese Government know this very well.

Recently, some Hindu pilgrims on their way to Mount Kailash from the Western pass, came across strange lights in the sky. The local guides while in the Chinese territory told them that this was nothing new and is a normal phenomenon from Kongka Pass area the tensed border between India and China. This strange lighted triangular silent crafts show up from underground and moves almost vertically up. Some of the adventurous pilgrims wanted to look into the site. They were first turned by the Chinese guard posts as they were refused entry from the Chinese side and then when they tried to approach the site from Indian side, the Indian border patrol also turned them down in spite of their permit to travel between the two countries.

The pilgrims at that stage started quizzing the Indian border petrol personnel. According to them, the security personnel told them that they are ordered not to allow any one near the area of interest and it is true that strange objects come out from under the ground with amplified and modulated lights. India’s Special Forces and possible visit the area by intelligence agencies.

The locals start laughing in that area when they are asked about these UFO sightings. According to them the extra-terrestrial presence is well known and is in deep into the ground. They believe neither the Indian or Chinese Governments want to expose the fact for some reason. When they bring up thus matter to local Governments, they are told to keep quiet. This is the region where the Eurasian plate and the Indian plate have created convergent plate boundaries. Convergent plate boundaries are formed where one plate dives under another. Thus this is one of the very few areas in the world where the depth of the crust twice as much as in other places. The opposite is found in hot spots like Yellow Stone National Park in America where the earth’s crust in thin.

5 Most Haunted Places of India

When it comes to the topic of “Haunted places” or the tile of “India’s most haunted”, Bhangarh takes the cake but there are several other places in country that share the same status of fear, gossip and folklore. One such place that very few people know about are the mines of Lambi Dehar, also known as Lambidhar Mines.

Lambi Dehar Mines...

Mussorie, for time immemorial, has been considered as one of must visit hill-stations of India. Right next to Mussorie, on the outskirts, situated in a valley are the Lambi Dehar mines, which very few of the thousands that visit Mussorie each year have ever heard of. Even in Mussorie there are people who would laugh if you asked them whether the mines were indeed haunted and would call the stories as utter nonsense but majority of the locals, especially the ones living closer to mines, would tell you to stay away because the mines are now believed to be home to a witch who has claimed several lives in the past.

Like every other so called “haunted” place in the world, even Lambi Dehar mines have had their share of misfortune, spread over several decades. But that I believe is case with every mining operation anywhere. Mining and accidents, serious or fatal, go hand in hand. There however are beliefs, claims, and facts that were twisted over the time in favor of superstitions.

Most of the sites that are showcased as haunted usually have the purpose of attracting tourists; Bhangarh is example of one such destination. Then there are places that are tagged as haunted because of their long history of gore and violence, Delhi’s Khooni Darwaza being one such. But there is also a 3rd category of places that cannot draw any tourism, have not stood witness to a long list of deaths but are claimed as haunted only because of the location. Lambi Dehar falls in the 3rd category. Imagine a very old series of mines, dark tunnels standing amidst the peaks of mighty Himalayas, surrounded by thick forests with clouds touching down in the valley and you will get the idea. It’s an ideal setting for a horror movie which eventually made these mines notorious as haunted.

Haunted Story of GP Block Meerut...

Meerut is a metropolitan city situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India, Hindi and Urdu languages spoken here. This GP Block although not well known but is to be found one of the most haunted areas in the city's history. It has a very unique and strange type of haunted story. This GP Block reported corresponds to a double storey apartment which is deserted and without any residence.

People have claimed to see the spirit of a woman sitting on the roof and others have added to see women wearing red clothes getting in and out of the house. It has been always seen that four men sitting inside the house around a table with a single candle lighted in the centre, and having alcohol. It happens to be most common sight for people passing through that area but few people also added that even they seen the men sitting on the rooftop. The scenes keep repeating all over the house. The house has remained locked for as long as people in the area can't remember. People don't tell all these as apparition too. These are clearer than that. People generally avoid that route stretch lying in the front of the house, and today no one passes by the unidentified yet haunted place.

Kalpana Chawla Death Mystery!!! - కల్పనా చావ్లా మరణం వెనుక అసలు రహస్యం? - With Subtitles/CC

Ex-NASA official reveals, Scientists were aware of possible danger to Kalpana Chawla and other astronauts

As the nation remembered its first woman in space, Kalpana Chawla, on her tenth death anniversary on February 1, an explosive revelation about her death has come into light.

When spacecraft Columbia was re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere on February 1, 2003, NASA was aware of the technical snag in the space shuttle.

At the time of launch, NASA’s scientists noticed that the thermal protection system of the shuttle’s left wing was damaged. They were aware of the disaster on re-entry in the earth’s atmosphere.

After a long thought process, NASA’s control mission decided not to inform anything about the possible danger to the astronauts on board.

In a blog, Programme Manager of space operation, Wayne Hale, has revealed that he gave detailed description about the technical snag to former NASA official Jon Harpold.

But Harplod denied informing about the miss-happening to the astronauts and told him, “There is nothing we can do.”

“If it has been damaged, it’s probably better not to know. I think its better the crew would rather not know,” he quoted Harpold as saying.

He further wrote that during the space operation, Harpold denied informing astronauts about the possible danger citing distance and time issues. When they got the information about the disintegration of space shuttle, NASA’s top official Leroy Cain saved all the necessary information and locked control room, he added.

Notably, it was during the return journey, when NASA’s first space shuttle Columbia disintegrated during its re-entry in Earth’s atmosphere on February 1, 2003, as it was ending its 28th mission. All seven astronauts including India’s Kalpana Chawla perished in the disaster.

Top 5 Unsolved Mysteries Of Science || సైన్స్ కే తెలియని 5 మిస్టరీలు ఏమిటో మీకు తెలుసా? || With Subtitles/CC

In the last two centuries, Science has answered many questions about nature and the laws that govern it. We’ve been able to research galaxies and the atoms that make up matter. We’ve built machines that can compute and solve problems that no human can work out. We’ve solved age old problems in Mathematics and created theories that gave maths new problems. This article, however, is not about these achievements. It’s about those problems in science that have left scientists scratching their heads, wondering if they’ll ever yell, “Eureka!”

The Origin of Life

We’ve always been obsessed with studying about the possibility of life on other planets, but another question that has baffled scientists even more is how exactly did life as we know it originate on Earth? Though answering this question will have little practical application, the path to the answer could lead to several interesting discoveries in fields varying from microbiology to astrophysics.

Scientists believe that the key to understanding the origin of life could be in finding out how two of life’s characteristic features – reproduction and genetic transfer − could have begun as processes involving molecules that have the ability to replicate. This led to the formation of the popular ‘primordial soup’ theory, according to which the early Earth somehow had a mixture, a sort of broth of molecules, that were energized by solar energy and electrical storms. Over a long period of time, these molecules would have reacted to form the more complex organic structures that make up life. This theory was buoyed by the famous Miller-Urey experiment, wherein the duo succeeded in creating amino acid by passing electrical discharges through a blend of simpler elements such as methane, ammonia, water and hydrogen. The discovery of DNA and RNA, however, doused the initial excitement as it seemed impossible that the complex and elegant structure of DNA could have risen from a primitive soup of chemicals.

The Science Behind Dreaming

For centuries people have pondered the meaning of dreams. Early civilizations thought of dreams as a medium between our earthly world and that of the gods. In fact, the Greeks and Romans were convinced that dreams had certain prophetic powers. While there has always been a great interest in the interpretation of human dreams, it wasn’t until the end of the nineteenth century that Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung put forth some of the most widely-known modern theories of dreaming. Freud’s theory centered around the notion of repressed longing — the idea that dreaming allows us to sort through unresolved, repressed wishes. Carl Jung (who studied under Freud) also believed that dreams had psychological importance, but proposed different theories about their meaning.

Since then, technological advancements have allowed for the development of other theories. One prominent neurobiological theory of dreaming is the “activation-synthesis hypothesis,” which states that dreams don’t actually mean anything: they are merely electrical brain impulses that pull random thoughts and imagery from our memories. Humans, the theory goes, construct dream stories after they wake up, in a natural attempt to make sense of it all. Yet, given the vast documentation of realistic aspects to human dreaming as well as indirect experimental evidence that other mammals such as cats also dream, evolutionary psychologists have theorized that dreaming really does serve a purpose. In particular, the “threat simulation theory” suggests that dreaming should be seen as an ancient biological defense mechanism that provided an evolutionary advantage because of its capacity to repeatedly simulate potential threatening events – enhancing the neuro-cognitive mechanisms required for efficient threat perception and avoidance.

So, over the years, numerous theories have been put forth in an attempt to illuminate the mystery behind human dreams, but, until recently, strong tangible evidence has remained largely elusive.

5 Famously Haunted Dolls That You Don’t Want To Play With...

There's no shortage of haunted dolls in this world, but some are decidedly creepier than others.

There’s something about dolls. Once you reach a certain age, dolls lose their inherent appeal and begin to appear much more sinister. Nothing will enhance the creepiness of a room quite like a doll will. Although they may not all be evil or possessed, these five haunted dolls certainly have an interesting history.

Robert was originally given as a gift to Robert Eugene Otto in 1906. The gift was given by a disgruntled servant who reportedly practiced black magic. Otto’s parents would hear him talking to the doll, who they assumed was replying in Otto’s own voice. However, the haunting was not confined to a simple conversation. Neighbors reportedly saw the doll peering through the windows when the family was out. The doll was also seen to blink and change expression. At night, Otto would cry out prompting his parents to see what was wrong. They entered the room to the image of their son, petrified, surrounded by turned furniture. Otto was adamant that Robert had done it.

After enduring 20 years of Robert’s antics, the doll was donated to the Fort East Martello Museum in Key West, Florida in 1994 where he resides, locked in a glass case to this day.

Mandy is a doll of unknown origin that haunted her owners for years. The latest owner of Mandy complained of hearing crying in the night, and it wasn’t until Mandy was donated to Quesnel Museum in British Columbia in 1991 that the crying finally stopped. Although it stopped for the donor, Mandy now haunts the staff of the museum in which she now resides. Staff have reported that their lunches go missing, and that Mandy has broken or otherwise harmed the dolls with whom she is encased. Pictures or videos taken of Mandy are known to come out distorted or erased, making her one of the most haunted dolls in the world.

Annabelle’s story starts in 1970, when she was given as a gift to a girl named Donna by her mother. It displayed classic haunting characteristics like leaving notes and moving around spontaneously. It wasn’t until Donna’s friend, Lou, was introduced to the doll that it became more menacing. Lou awoke one night and was paralyzed. He saw Annabelle at the bottom of the bed, and it scurried up to his throat and started to strangle him. He eventually passed out, and woke the next morning convinced that it was not a dream. A few days later, he heard a noise coming from the upstairs bedroom. When he entered the room he collapsed and felt a pain in his chest. When he opened his shirt he saw seven claw marks, which faded over the subsequent days.

The haunting ended when paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called in. Annabelle now resides in the Warren’s Occult Museum, with holy water preventing her case to be opened.

Mind Blowing Facts About Existence Of Ghost-దెయ్యాలు నిజంగా ఉన్నాయ లేవ అనడానికి అధారాలు-With Subtitles

A bhoot or bhut is a supernatural creature, usually the ghost of a deceased person, in the popular culture, literature and some ancient texts of the Indian subcontinent. Interpretations of how bhoots come into existence vary by region and community, but they are usually considered to be perturbed and restless due to some factor that prevents them from moving on (to transmigration, non-being, nirvana, or heaven or hell, depending on tradition). This could be a violent death, unsettled matters in their lives, or simply the failure of their survivors to perform proper funerals.

In Central and Northern India, Aojha spirit guides play a central role. It duly happens when in the night someone sleeps and decorates something on the wall, and they say that if one sees the spirit the next thing in the morning he will become a spirit too, and that to a skondho kata, which means a spirit without a head and the soul of the body will remain the dark with the dark lord from the spirits who reside in the body of every human in Central and Northern India. It is also believed that if someone calls one from behind, never turn back and see because the spirit may catch the human to make it a spirit. Other types of spirits in Hindu Mythology include Baital, an evil spirit who haunts cemeteries and takes demonic possession of corpses, and Pishacha, a type of flesh-eating demon.

There are many kinds of ghosts and similar supernatural entities that frequently come up in Bengali culture, its folklores and form an important part in Bengali peoples' socio-cultural beliefs and superstitions. It is believed that the spirits of those who cannot find peace in the afterlife or die unnatural deaths remain on Earth. The common word for ghosts in Bengali is bhoot or bhut. This word has an alternative meaning: 'past' in Bengali. Also the word Pret (Sanskrit) is used in Bengali to mean ghost. In Bengal, ghosts are believed to be the spirit after death of an unsatisfied human being or a soul of a person who dies in unnatural or abnormal circumstances (like murder, suicide or accident). Even it is believed that other animals and creatures can also be turned into ghost after their death.

Amazing And Unknown Hidden World Under Rabbit Burrows | ఆ పొలం క్రింద ఎవరు ఉండేవారో తెలుసా | With CC

Amazing And Unknown Hidden World Under Rabbit Burrows | ఆ పొలం క్రింద ఎవరు ఉండేవారో తెలుసా | With Subtitles

An apparently ordinary rabbit's hole in a farmer's field leads to an underground sanctuary said to have been used by devotees of a medieval religious order - but is everything what it seems?

According to local legend, the Caynton Caves, near Shifnal, in Shropshire, were used by followers of the Knights Templar in the 17th Century.

Located less than a metre underground, they appear to be untouched structurally.

Their original purpose is shrouded in mystery, but Historic England, which describes the caves as a "grotto", believes they were probably built in the late 18th or early 19th Century - hundreds of years after the Templar order was dissolved.

In its report, it said the caves appear to be used for "black magic rites" by modern-day visitors.

Michael Scott, from Birmingham, went to photograph the caves after seeing a video of them online.

He said: "I traipsed over a field to find it, but if you didn't know it was there you would just walk right past it. Considering how long it's been there it's in amazing condition, it's like an underground temple."

The tunnel leads to a network of walkways and arches carved out of sandstone, as well as a font.

Mr Scott said the cave was "quite cramped" and those nearing 6ft (1.8m) tall would have to bend down to fit in. Some chambers are so small that those exploring have to enter them on hands and knees.

"I had to crouch down and once I was in it was completely silent. There were a few spiders in there but that was it. It was raining so the slope down was quite sludgy but inside the cave was bone dry," he added.

The caves were reportedly sealed up in 2012 in a bid to keep away vandals and practitioners of "black magic".

While the rumoured connection between the caves and medieval knights seems unlikely, who were the Templars?

The Catholic military order was founded in the 12th Century to guard pilgrims on their way along the dangerous roads that led to Jerusalem.

Its members were effectively armed monk-like knights who were granted certain legal privileges and whose status was backed by the Church. They were reputed to be the possessors of great wealth and power.

In 1095, Pope Urban II promised the knights of Europe forgiveness of their sins if they went on a Crusade to win back Jerusalem for Christianity. Many responded by "taking the cross" and showed this act by cutting out red crosses before sewing them into their tunics.

Most Mysterious Top 5 Temples Of India - ఈ ఐదు ఆలయాల మిస్టరీ ఇంకా వీడలేదు! - With Subtitles
A Hindu temple is a structure designed to bring human beings and gods together, using symbolism to express the ideas and beliefs of Hinduism. The symbolism and structure of a Hindu temple are rooted in Vedic traditions. A temple incorporates all elements of Hindu cosmos - presenting the good, the evil and the human, as well as the elements of Hindu sense of cyclic time and the essence of life - symbolically presenting dharma, kama, artha, moksa, and karma.

The spiritual principles symbolically represented in Hindu temples are given in the ancient Sanskrit texts of India (for example, Vedas and Upanishads), while their structural rules are described in various ancient Sanskrit treatises on architecture (Brhat Samhita, Vastu Sastras). The layout, the motifs, the plan and the building process recite ancient rituals, geometric symbolisms, and reflect beliefs and values innate within various schools of Hinduism. A Hindu temple is a spiritual destination for many Hindus, as well as landmarks around which ancient arts, community celebrations and economy have flourished.

Hindu temples come in many styles, are situated in diverse locations, deploy different construction methods and are adapted to different deities and regional beliefs, yet almost all of them share certain core ideas, symbolism and themes.

Most Mysterious And Dangerous Zone Of Silence | ఆధునిక పరికరాలను మింగేస్తున్న ఎడారి | With Subtitles

The Mapimi Silent Zone is the popular name for a desert patch near the Bolson de Mapimi in Durango, Mexico, overlapping the Mapimi Biosphere Reserve. It is the subject of an urban myth that claims it is an area where radio signals and any type of communications cannot be received.

However, communications equipment tends to work properly in the zone. Guides assert that the zone moves around; as a result locals are highly skeptical of the zone's existence.

On the day of 11th July, 1970 an Athena rocket being used in a training exercise by the US Air Force lost control, accidentally invaded Mexican air space, and landed in the desert region of Durango hundreds of miles from the planned destination. The rocket was carrying two small containers of Cobalt 57, a radioactive element. Immediately, a team of covert specialists arrived to find the fallen rocket. The aerial search extended over three weeks. Finally, when the rocket was found, a road was made to transport the wreckage, as well as a small amount of contaminated top soil. All these operations were made under a fair amount of security, spurring rumors and myths, among the locals about what was happening.

A local named Jaime was hired as 'Capitan' to guard the rocket while the US prepared to take it back, which after a couple of weeks of preparation, they did. However, Jaime had rather liked the attention and money that the missile had brought, and began playing up the rumors that the strange incident had generated.

The landowners, and potential hotel builders, all agreed that this was indeed very 'special' land. A handful of scientists were then said to have confirmed these strange phenomena – though these studies are, unsurprisingly, very difficult to find – and the legend was formed.

Among the legends, radios didn’t work there, inside a silent zone you cannot hear the conversations of other people, very tall people in 'tight silver suits' are often seen, it is a pole where 'Earth energy' is concentrated, 'light' spheres could be seen flying over the zone, UFO’s land here, and so on.

The phenomena is now claimed to have been first reported in the 1930s by Francisco Sarabia, a Mexican pilot, who claimed that his radio had mysteriously failed to function while flying over the zone. Similar claims have been made by other persons who have visited the zone, that radio signals didn’t work and compasses were unusable. Other claims are that the area attracts meteorites and causes various mental problems.

People now come from all over to experience the area, look for the ever illusive 'silent zones', and sometimes attempt communication with otherworldly beings. Though visitors may be surprised to find their compasses and radios working just fine, an experienced guide will remind them that since the zones move, it can be hard to locate them.

Unfortunately these new age and paranormal enthusiasts, known locally as zoneros or silenciosos, are now having an adverse effect on the desert area that contains the silent zone. By collecting and keeping both natural and historical artifacts they find in the dessert, they are depleting the area of finite natural and historical resources. They have also caused some irritation to the Mapimí Biosphere Reserve an ecological research station, which is concerned about being associated with either the silent zone or the 'zoneros'.
