Why is China against India?

Tibet and Dalai Lama

When China invaded Tibet, Dalai Lama fled to India and entered into Indian controlled region(some claim, without knowledge of Indian authorities). Later Dalai Lama asked Indian PM for protection. Considering Indian culture and history Indian PM agreed to provide refugee for Dalai Lama.

China is not happy with this development. Hence Inda-China and Tibet issue. India never spoke against China's Tibet invasion.

As the two neighboring countries, China and India have historical issues such as the border dispute and also some emerging new issues with the development of the relations between the two countries. How to deal with these issues is a major challenge for the relationship between the two countries.

India and Pakistan relations already running on a tense note between India and Pakistan over terrorism and rising tensions at borders, China has assured in unequivocal terms of its support in case of any foreign aggression to Islamabad including its stance on the Kashmir issue. China’s support was confirmed in a press release issued by the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s Office, reports Dawn.

“In case of any foreign aggression, our country will extend its full support to Pakistan,” the statement quoted Consul General of China in Lahore Yu Boren as saying. The message was conveyed during a meeting of its top diplomat in the provincial capital with Chief Minister Sharif.

The statement said that Beijing “will be siding with Pakistan on Kashmir issue” and the Kashmir issue should be solved in accordance with aspirations of the Kashmiris. The duo also discussed the progress being made on various projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The bilateral relationship between The People’s Republic of China and The Republic of India finds its roots 2000 years back in the history. This cultural and economic relationship has been highly unpredictable since then and has witnessed gains and losses in ever changing political scenario.

4 point conflict between India and China are...

1. Quest to become Power Center...

21st century has already been declared as the century of Asia.Amidst countless instabilities and power imbalance only India and China has been the pinnacle in proving this declaration true.Whether it be financial growth, social security, military power or technological advancement, cut throat competition has been observed between these two nations to prove supremacy in the Asia Pacific region.

2. Ages old Border dispute...

The McMahon line marking the boundary between India and Tibet was accepted as the legal border by India but this was declared invalid by the Chinese government thereby accepting Line of Actual Control as the original border between the countries.

Numerous incidents have been observed in the past where these two interfered in each others territory due to acceptance of different borders by the two.

3. One Belt One Road Project (OBOR)...

President Jinping ‘s much awaited project - OBOR is an effort to revive the ancient Silk route .

This initiative focuses on improving connectivity and cooperation among Asian countries, Africa, China and Europe. OBOR is much more than a road facilitating easier transportation , it is a strategic policy which gives the Chinese army unparalleled advantage at times of war.

CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor) is a route which comes under OBOR which connects Pakistan’s Gwadar port to Chinese Xinjiang province. The conflict arises from the fact that CPEC passes through disputed areas of Gilgit Baltistan which India claims as its territory under illegal occupation of Pakistan

4. India’s recognition to Tibet...

Tibet which makes a quarter of China’s land area is the most prominent conflict when it comes to India and China.China did not use to share its boundaries with present day India,Nepal and Bhutan before it annexed Tibet and started to indulge in disputes with these nations.

After the invasion Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama fled his homeland and arrived in India pleading for government protection.PRC considers Dalai Lama as a threat to Tibet’s merger with China and has strongly criticized India’s policy of treating Tibet as an independent nation and providing shelter to the Tibetan refugees.
